Description

The painting Yellow vests- showcases 2 in Paris, with dimensions 150x150cm, oil on canvas, is part of the solo exhibition “How did I get here?” Exhibition, that was presented in the following museums:- National Museum of the Romanian Peasant in Bucharest,- Buzau County Museum, – National Museum “Royal Court” at the Art Museum in Targoviste, -Osten Drawing Biennial Museum, Skopje, Northern Macedonia, -Brukenthal Museum in Sibiu Romania-Romanian Cultural Institute-Accademia di Romania, Roma, Italy-Embassy of Romania in Italy The painting is part of the exhibition “How did I get here?” which was inspired and architecturally built around the idea and the question: “How did we get from 10 rational restrains to millions of irrational restrains, during Covid time?” Through this exhibition, I try as an architect and visual artist to proceed together with the public who love contemporary fine art in an inner analysis of the human spirit through which to find answers and solutions to contemporary problems in our existence. Let’s start with the 10 rational restraints written in the stone by Moses, on the Holy Mountain or by Buddha at the time of the miracle on the banks of the Nairaajana river or maybe by Confucius in his fight for the morality of the human spirit ….. and then analyse the rest of the restraints that appeared later in the contemporary period. Let’s try to find an answer together to the questions I have been asking myself in the last months on the background of the pandemic. How did we get our lives to change completely in a few months? How is it possible not to listen to specialists and declare that there is no concern about the virus? It is outrageous to find that the human spirit has lost its reason and has not evolved. How did nations end up stealing their pandemic protection equipment from each other? How did human spirits get to afford to drive cars worth tens of thousands of dollars, to stand in line for a few hours for a box of food? How did we come to see in some developed countries and which should be an example for developing countries, against the background of a human spiritual revolt, individuals who cause chaos in the name of injustice and destroy the work of others? We have no excuse, in the last 70 years and, especially, the last generation has benefited and had all the comfort necessary for a life full of well-being-all this on the sacrifices and work of past generations. Globalization takes its course. Where and how can we make the human spirit better? The evolution of the human spirit in these cases is a failure of the systems and small budgets given to education, culture and health by the states of the developed and developing world. In the future, we need to invest more in education, art and health so that we are no longer taken by surprise by any force majeure event.
