Description

Artist got inspired by trauma suffered as a young person, her work is a self-portrait viewed through the lens of traumatic memory and is part of the process of moving forward with her life. Louise Borgeois, Tracey Emin and Francis Bacon all influenced the works, which were Rebecca’s first foray into using digital applications to create art. Having previously worked in only acrylic, Rebecca digitally enhanced the pictures so that she was blended into the acrylic paint. The results are compositions which push the boundaries of digital and analogue, experiments in space. Artist’s idea to put herself into the painting was from when she felt there is an invisible boundary between the world (society) and personal space where you can be totally yourself. Also denial of reality brought her to the idea of artist herself becoming as part of the painting.
