Talk “Between Art and Design: Companies and Territory”
Thursday October 14 at 5pm
Arsenale Nord of Venice as part of Arte Laguna Prize exhibition
On the occasion of the Venice Design Week Thursday October 14 from 5 pm at the Arsenale Nord in #Venice, in the beautiful setting of Arte Laguna Prize exhibition, the talk “𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧: 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲” will take place. The talk is dedicated to the intersections and synergies between art and design to renew companies and enhance territories.
During the talk, the architect Danilo Premoli will present to the public the installation DOCG, a large cube built from a steel frame covered on four sides with Lapitec panels, a 100% natural mineral material. The individual letters that make up the title of the sculpture are drawn by holes of different diameters that let the light of a LED source inside the structure pass through and refer to the bubbles of Prosecco Docg wine from Cantina La Tordera, who commissioned the work.
Arte Laguna Prize has been promoting and enhancing artistic creativity applied to furniture since 2018, the year in which the design section was introduced. In 2019 the section was renamed Art Design to underline the blurred boundaries between these two disciplines, linked by an inextricable common thread. Also this year, the finalists exhibition displays products that are born in the artistic field and then find their application in the world of design, representing a perfect combination of creativity and functionality. The ten works in the design section range from the traditional Chinese dress by the artist Xiaodong Shi, inspired by the works of the poet Qu Yuan, to the lamp Soniah Lamp, by the Ukrainian designer Victoria Yakusha, inspired by the Helichrysum plant and created through the hand modeling of a sustainable blend based on clay, recycled paper, hay and other natural components, up to Frankenstein’s Bride by Slovenian designer Primoz Jeza, a modular versatile working space assembled out of several different colour elements, a contemporary table that can be adapted for every situation in real life, winner of the 14th edition.
