Alberico Crosetta, managing director of Antrax IT - Italian company specialized in the production of design objects for home and contract heating, who supported the new design section of the competition for the 2019 edition - will also attend.
On view in the evocative setting of the Arsenale Nord in Venice 120 finalist works from all over the world, an international testimony on the state of contemporary art.
3,000 square meters of exhibition space dedicated to contemporary art in all its forms will welcome the numerous visitors (over ten thousand in the last edition) and will host, on the evening of March 30th 2019 at 5:00 pm, the awards ceremony of the 6 winners of the thirteenth edition of the prize together with the winners of the collateral prizes.
““Our responsibilities towards the artists and our awareness of the socio-cultural context surrounding us have definitely increased - says Igor Zanti, Head of the Jury of Arte Laguna Prize. Inevitably, the Prize has become a unique and unrepeatable opportunity to take the pulse of an art world that is not only the official and recognized one, but also the one of those who make art outside the more traditional circuits, employing unusual languages or in countries where artistic production is obstructed by complex social, economic and cultural realities. Giving voice to these realities that, sometimes, have difficulty introducing themselves or proposing their work, is a source of continuous pride for us; it is like sowing a field of rare and exotic first fruits, in the hope that they will take root and grow in a flourishing way. Our intent is to offer everyone without restrictions of age, research, career or nationality the opportunity to be selected by a highly professional jury which represents, year after year, a unique example of the complexity of international critical thought. The Prize, intended as "a contemporary art garden", has begun to bear its fruits: some have spread in the world of art in a flourishing manner, invading galleries, museums and fairs.”
The exhibition, open until April 25th, is the result of the curatorship of Igor Zanti with the collaboration of the twelve international jurors who evaluated and selected the over 8,000 artworks submitted during the open call from September to December 2018: Flavio Arensi - director of the Museums of Legnano; Filippo Andreatta – theatre-maker and co-curator of Centrale Fies; Alfonso Femia - architect and founder of AF517; Mattias Givell - co-director of Wanås Konst in Sweden; Eva González-Sancho - co-curator of the first Oslo Biennial in 2019; Simone Pallotta - curator of public and urban art; Richard Noyce - writer, scholar and art critic; Danilo Premoli - architect and designer, member of the Scientific Committee for the final selection of ADI Design Index 2018 and 2019 and for the Compasso d'Oro 2020; Enrico Stefanelli - artistic director of Photolux Festival in Lucca; Alessandra Tiddia- chief curator at Mart Museum of Trento and Rovereto; Vasili Tsereteli - director of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art; Maxa Zoller - film curator for Art Basel and artistic director of the International Film Festival Dortmund - Cologne.
Together with the 120 finalist works, ten exceptional heat sculptures will also be exhibited: ‘Le Guardie del Doge’, an installation with a strong and surprising stage presence that reinterprets T Tower, the iconic free-standing radiator born from the collaboration between Antrax IT and thedesigners Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez.#artelagunaprize #premioartelaguna www.artelagunaprize.com
