The Special Prize dedicated to Art and Sustainability is part of the International Prize of contemporary art Arte Laguna Prize.
To participate, it is required the presentation of works, products and art projects which enhance the RRR strategies (Reuse, Recycle, Reduce) and their positive impact on nature and the lives of citizens.
The jurors of this special prize will be representatives of Contarina and Aiku.
Contarina
Contarina, founded in 1989, deals with waste management and other environmental services in 49 municipalities in the province of Treviso. The public company offers its services to over half a million inhabitants.
Recognized by the European Community as one of the best examples in integrated waste management. Over the years Contarina has reduced the production of non-recyclable waste per capita, reaching 43.60 kg / inhabitant a year in 2019, exceeding 88% of recycling rate.
Contarina’s core business is based on an integrated waste management system that starts from the production of waste and considers its entire life cycle with the aim of being sustainable in all its phases and concretizing the circular economy process, thus representing an example of a state-of-the-art public company in services and results.
AIKU – ART INDUSTRY CULTURE
aiku is the research centre of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice dedicated to the interaction between culture, creative processes, and entrepreneurship. We are driven by the desire to find unexpected connections between art, culture, and industry in different areas: Art & Business; Corporate Museums and valorisation of Corporate Heritage; Corporate Theatre and Storytelling; Cultural Heritage innovation and Museum management; Cultural policy and management; Cultural Tourism and Local Development aiku transfers the results of academic research activating the creativity of artists and cultural professionals to stimulate cultural change and strategic innovation.
We develop research projects, thematic workshops, corporate theatre experiences, art-thinking courses, artistic performances and cultural events at the intersection of economic and cultural production.
New interpretations of the present and critical awareness of the past enable us to project visions of the future which can prove useful to both economy and society. We achieve this by relying on the prophetic power of artistic intuitions and on the revolutionary potential of creative solutions.
