For the 19th edition of Arte Laguna Prize, the Art Residency Palazzo Valmarana Braga has chosen another winner for their Special Prize: MXPRIVÈ. The new personal exhibition, Frammenti (Fragments), had its own inauguration on the 7th of March in the historic palace of Valmarana, in the center of Vicenza.
Interview abstract
1. Background: How did the idea originate?
My time in Vicenza has been filled with intense architectural impressions. The city is visually rich, full of forms, textures, and historical references. After just a few days, I realized that I didn’t want to simply document this abundance. Instead, I began to ask myself:
– Which architectural elements remain in my memory?
– Which details fascinate me so much that I keep returning to them?
– How can I translate my subjective perception of the city into photography?
Seeking clarity, I withdrew to Monte Berico—a conscious act of stepping away from the visual density of the city. It made me realize: When I think of Vicenza, I don’t see entire buildings, but rather fragments. Individual columns, sections of facades, light and shadow on stone.
This led to the core idea: Vicenza is a city of fragments—architectural details that stand on their own yet are part of a greater whole.
An official Press Release has followed the creation of this exhibition.

"FRAMMENTI" - Exhibition Concept – MXPRIVÉ
“FRAMMENTI” is an exhibition that does not explain but evokes—through images, space, and atmosphere. An experiment that shows that we do not perceive architecture only as a whole but often in individual moments.
I do not photograph the whole, but what remains. Fragments are the traces that imprint themselves on memory – details that tell the story of the dialogue between architecture and time.
Vicenza’s architecture is world-renowned – but what lingers in memory? Which details capture the essence of these buildings and tell their own story? “Even stone is not invulnerable. Every chipped edge, every break tells of time, which shapes and transforms even the strongest.”
With Frammenti, Berlin-based photographer MXPRIVÉ presents his first solo exhibition worldwide. Created exclusively for Vicenza, this work is an artistic reflection on the city’s architectural heritage. As part of an artist residency at Palazzo Valmarana Braga, in collaboration with the Arte Laguna Prize, MXPRIVÉ explores a fragmentary perception of architecture – a collection of reduced details that recontextualize light, materiality, and structure.
MXPRIVÉ is known for his clear, minimalist aesthetic, which focuses on light, geometry, and texture. By capturing hidden elements, he transforms familiar motifs into poetic visual worlds.
“This exhibition presents Vicenza in fragments – architectural details that stand on their own yet remain part of a greater whole. And so, the venue itself is also a fragment: a place that preserves history while opening up fresh perspectives.”
