Mario Valdès for Energiapuntozero | A sustainabile collaboration

The collaboration between Mario Valdès (Madrid, 1965) and Energiapuntozero (a company focused on sustainable energy) as part of the Arte Laguna Prize Special Awards – 18th edition has come to fruition.

The Treviso-based company chose Valdès to create a project focused on sustainability, with the aim of raising public awareness and promoting art related to this theme.
The artist, with the support of Energiapuntozero, was hosted in residence in Fratta di Tarzo (TV) during the project “Cor – Spazi pubblici palpitanti,” whose purpose was to revalue Italian villages through contemporary art. Thanks to this collaboration, the artist worked on a reworking of the work “The Lords of the Threshold,” creating “Dream of Trees.”

This sculpture was constructed entirely from reclaimed natural materials, namely wood and glass, onto which a silkscreen print was then applied.

The project involves the installation of a varying number of sculptures rea¬lized from tree trunks salvaged from a forest fire, into which photographs fixed on glass are integrated, thus creating an immersive environment. The project aims to focus attention on sustainability, combating climate change and creating a greener world.

For this collaboration, was created a work that seeks to raise the viewer’s awareness of the importance of environmental preservation. With this project, a space for reflection was proposed in which the audience is invited to imagine the capacity of trees to feel emotions and thus to have feelings and consciousness.

Mario Valdès’ work was previewed during the event “Cor – Palpitating Public Spaces” and will be exhibited again at the North Arsenal in Venice during the period of the Arte Laguna Prize exhibition, from November 16 to December 8, 2024.
