2012 was a landmark year for the ART STAYS International Festival of Contemporary Art. It celebrated its 10th anniversary and played an important role in the European Capital of Culture Maribor 2012, which brought much attention to the exceptional cultural offer of Ptuj.

ART STAYS has also an artist in residence program and organizes the International Festival of Contemporary Art which is from 2003 the main event of Visual Art happening in the region of Ptuj in Slovenia. Each year a wide and representative international panorama of artists and exhibitions of contemporary visual art opens new projects, national pavillions and events that are united in international appointments by ART STAYS.

Lucca, Italy

Photolux Festival is the International Festival of Photography that takes place in Lucca, Tuscany.
As a symbol of the project, we have chosen Light, the essence of Photography. In today’s world, where we are constantly bombarded by a plethora of images, PHOTOLUX, like a camera obscura of old times, aims to display a clear and well-defined selection of work from the international photographic scene.
With its energetic and innovative outlook, PHOTOLUX aspires to be a crossroads of exchange for renowned masters, experts and photography lovers, while also shedding light on new and emerging talents, as well as cutting edge artistic practices.
The Festival has started in 2005 as a photography and video art festival with the name of Lucca Photo Fest. In 2012, aiming to improving the quality, it has been turned into a biennial event and changed the name in Photolux Festival (PHOTO LUcca eXhibitions).
Concept and goals remained the same: with its energetic and innovative outlook, PHOTOLUX aspires to be a crossroads of exchange for renowned masters, experts and photography lovers, while also shedding light on new and emerging talents, as well as cutting edge artistic practices.
Though young, the event has become one of the most interesting in the European panorama in terms of exhibitions’ quality and authors’ selection and in terms of organization too. The substantial presence of experts and journalists of international level and the consent from critics, press and public, confirm that Lucca can be considered as one of the photographic art’s benchmarks in Italy and Europe.
In the past edition Photolux Festival presented the works of some of the most important international photographers and engaged positive synergies in order to get or even produce exhibitions with many important Italian and international institutions, photo agencies and galleries.
