Description

Santa Maria is a city located on the estuary of the Rio de la Plata. Here humanity lives at night and women continue to die. The artwork is composed of three different video frames merged into one, each of which is one long take, the final perfectly coincides with the beginning. You can loop it and make it infinite. Santa Maria is a fictional city invented by the Uruguayan writer Juan Carlos Onetti. Santa Maria is a mash-up between Montevideo and Buenos Aires. SANTA MARIA’s three characters, as a sort of Sisyphus, are forced in an infinite pattern of death-resurrection-violence-death. The staging, cold, surgical, motionless, without editing cuts, follow their actions that overlap with each other, regardless of each time-lapse.
