Description

Two huge metamorphic figures are the cornerstone of the representation and embrace each other lying on the shore. One represents the land and the other the sea. Both have their gaze turned to infinity, mindful of a journey that is kept within them, originating from the very nature of which they are composed and perfected by that which they feed with their partnership. What I wanted to represent is unity even in diversity, distinction even in union, suggesting the awareness of being part of a deeper whole that goes far beyond tangible perception. Something that cannot be embraced or rationally understand why it is only a part of what is bigger than us and that makes us bigger the same moment we come into empathic contact with others and with San Vito Lo Capo (TP) – Italy, 2021 the world we are part of.

_________

2287 square meters, 520 kg of bi-component water-based resin with high mechanical performance suitable for sports areas and 26 days of work between October and December 2021. This permanent work of art on a sports area is located in San Vito lo Capo (TP) and is part of the initiatives of the SUA (San Vito Urban Art) festival curated by the architect Arianna Maggio.

The intervention area includes a field for futsal, a basketball and a volleyball court. In the walkways between the fields, a 1 2 3 star “field” and the game of hopscotch for the little ones and not have also been painted.

The work gently integrates with the surrounding area which is indeed widely referenced in it thanks to a careful study of colors and shapes, and to the copious naturalistic and anthropic references. The project has been approved by the competent Superintendency for Landscape Assets.

The undertaking was completed with the patronage of the Municipality of San Vito Lo Capo, the technical support of Chimiver Panseri spa (producers of the paint) and the StreetArtBall Project and also thanks to the help of the inhabitants of San Vito lo Capo and students of the Michelangelo Art School Buonarroti R. Salvo of Trapani and of the IPSOA Istituto Alberghiero Vincenzo and Ignazio Florio of Erice.
