Description

My works explore escapism as a self-protecting mechanism in a biographical format. As a mortal existence, human beings inhabit and interact with spaces physically and spiritually. Brimming over with objects that allude to the deepest self, the domestic environment encloses the traces of humanity, history, and relationships. I sanctify and place reverence in the everyday and the neglected.

Knot by knot, start with threads, by changing the nature of knit, I build 2D and 3D sculptures from the material that should not stand up. A re-enactment of my environment — as a type of vagabond, isolated from family, pandemic restrictions, pixelated information — resulted in a new relationship of home. I analyse myself. I am more willing to believe in objects than people. Objects are simple, and they are the same both inside and outside.

The relationships between objects and I are pure. The daily home objects record the individual history and reflect the habit of me as a user. Scratches on the wooden floor, gaps in the edge of mugs, coffee stains on the sofa, and the mixed smell in the air are the trace of my existence. Home is a protective shell detaching from physical definitions and geographical position. Leaving the masses is the first step of knowing myself.
