Arte Sella: the contemporary mountain. A unique creative process which over a thirty-year journey has seen a meeting of artistic languages, artistic feeling and different inspirations united by the desire to establish a fruitful and ongoing dialogue between creativity and the natural world.
Two routes immersed in the woods where international artists’ sensitivity and creations have been able to talk to nature and to get in touch with it. Year by year, a succession of artworks made of natural materials are donated to nature which modifies them, turning them into something new. Every season covers Arte Sella itineraries with colours, shades and new scents: the route is a continuous discovery, every time a different emotion.
Arte Sella consists of two routes: ArteNatura, a path that extends along a forest road immersed in the woods. It is a route of approximately two kilometers and it offers the opportunity to discover some artworks. A second route is situated at the Malga Costa Area and it consists of a ring path of about one kilometer, which has other artworks such as the famous Tree Cathedral. From 2016 it is possible to visit also the historic Villa Strobele and its garden, where Arte Sella was born.

Farm Cultural Park is an independent new generation cultural centre where culture becomes a fine tool for an area renewal and to give a present and a future to a city without a past. It is situated in the heart of the historic centre of Favara (Sicily), in a neighborhood called “The Seven Courtyards” for its urban structure characterized by seven small courtyards which were abandoned in the past.
Farm Cultural Park acquired some of the houses situated in the seven courtyards, transforming them in contemporary art exhibition spaces, meeting spaces, open kitchen for workshops and lunches, cocktail bars, vintage shops and much more. In this way, the abandoned and degraded area turned into a tourist centre and into a venue for innovation and art meeting with a strong interest in contemporary art and innovation.
A place where is possible to live experiences characterized by strong relations, discovery, unpublished and unexpected encounters and where beauty is visible in several expressions: architectural, human, aesthetic, narrative beauty.
The Farm Cultural Park creation has been an incentive for the whole town of Favara and over time the historic centre has renewed with the opening of pubs that attract public coming from the nearest cities but most of all, other people decided to invest in the duo historic centre/culture, creating other interesting realities. This is also a way to contribute collectively in the achievement of one of the Farm Cultural Park’s founders’ aims, that is making Favara the second tourist destination of Agrigento province, after Valle dei Templi.

GLO’ART aims at helping young artists to build their career in art,
to become recognized and well-known international artists.

The concept: GLO’ART starts scouting for young art talents throughout the world and to invite them for a stay of 1 to 6 weeks in a unique art centre in Belgium. Within a period of two years, GLO’ART strives to select a hundred potential artists to join it. These are housed during their stay in a luxurious private residence and gain every opportunity to freely show and present their work during this period. GLO’ART offers a variety of accommodation and equipment to support the artists.

For every form of art GLO’ART has separate workshops arranged (painting, sculpture, photography, digital, and free arts). It is intended that during the stay of 1 to 6 weeks, the artists can show their capabilities and skills by making their own art. In that way they deliver a true impression of themselves to the GLO’ART organization. Their presentations and work are discussed and a file of their work laid out. By the end of the second year, ten artists are elected to become associates of GLO’ART. This election is made by an international jury of renowned art experts and is based on the interviews, congestion and artworks made.

These associates will have a contract and thus will be offered the amazing ability to penetrate into the international art world. The GLO’ART marketing and sales team will thereby fully support them. It is for the winners a blazed path to international recognition. The GLO’ART sales department will sell the artworks they produce. In this way, the winners have all the possibilities to focus and develop themselves in their artistry and creativity, and do not need to concern themselves with the financial side of being an artist.

    Pistoia Tuscany, Italy
    www.salvadoriarte.it

The artistic foundry Salvadori Arte is located in Pistoia, Tuscany, and has been operating since 1964. The company produces works of art in bronze and other metals, with the technique of lost wax, operating in a 700 sqm indoor space and 600 sqm outdoor space. Salvadori Arte is the last heir of the great metallurgical tradition of Pistoia, dating back to the eleventh century, and reaching its highest splendor in the early decades of the twentieth century.
It creates works for major Italian and international sculptors, including Roberto Barni, Luigi Ontani, Claudio Parmiggiani, Mario Merz, Steven Cox, Jorio Vivarelli, Igor Mitoraj, Mark Kostabi, Ilya Kabakov, Leonid Sokov, Grisha Bruskin, Umberto Mastroianni, Pericle Fazzini, Domenico Paladino, Daniel Spoerri, Fabio De Poli, Robert Morris, Bino Bini, Fernando Botero, Franco Fossi, Edoardo Bruno, Mario Ceroli, Pawel Althamer, Alexander Kosoloapov, Gustavo Aceves among others.
Some of its castings are housed in the most famous museums and art collections in the world, as well as in countless squares and gardens of art towns.

THE TECHNIQUE OF LOST WAX FUSION
It entails the coating a support of refractory earth in wax, which will be modeled afterwards; then an additional earth layer is applied on the wax, which is thus trapped inside the two masses.
By strongly heating the casing thus obtained, the wax melts and overflows from specific vents.
In the thin gap left by the wax, usually a few millimeters thick, the liquid alloy is poured, which by cooling and hardening, produces the fusion. When the fusion is complete, the sculpture is liberated from the different external castings and its surfaces are refined and polished.
Finally, through various oxidations and heat treatments, the desired patina is given to bronze.
The Zeus in Athens, the horses of Saint Mark’s in Venice, the Marco Aurelio in Rome’s Campidoglio, and the great sculptures of the Renaissance, were made using this very technique, which, over time, has hardly been amended.

    S. Pietro Mussolino, Marble District, Italy
    www.miramarmi.it

Founded in 1961 and currently managed by Giancarlo Bocchese, Miramarmi srl has been one of the first companies in the Chiampo valley (Vicenza) to specialize in the extraction, processing and sale of marble and natural stone all over the world.
Marbles, Art and Design are the three elements that characterize this place dedicated to artists, architects and designers. A space wanted by Miramarmi in order to make people closer to the wide world of the art and design of marble. An old production plant has been turned into an evocative and original "art gallery": this, in short, is Miramarmi Loft Gallery. The new company showroom is the result of the renovation of the old venue of the Miramarmi sawmill which has been restored. Miramarmi Loft Gallery has been conceived as a meeting point for customers and the professionals in the field, a welcoming place where it is possible to admire different materials and now, thanks to the collaboration with Arte Laguna Prize, a creativity space for artists.

Glass School Abate Zanetti | Murano

    Murano Venice, Italy
    www.abatezanetti.it

The heir of an ancient glass-making institution, Abate Zanetti is the meeting point between the past and the future of glass art.
Abate Zanetti has two souls. The first is the educational one, that draws on its origins and is expressed through the organization, coordination and promotion of highly innovative educational activities. These ones include a number of courses on the methods of both traditional and contemporary artistic working of glass, as well as on general topics connected to technology, design, and marketing. The second soul, in continuity with the first, is the productive one, a natural evolution aimed at creating new opportunities in a market that is always asking for new solutions.
Abate Zanetti is now a centre of excellence for the production, research and experimentation on cutting-edge glass art and design techinques, and it is able to create glass artworks starting also from the customer's project (with the eleboration of the design and prototype), or by following the designer's directions.

The Department of Cultural Affairs, Taipei City Government founded Taipei Artist Village in 2001 with the intent of fulfilling the responsibility that the arts have to society, by enacting an artist-in-residence program and revitalizing a derelict space.
Treasure Hill Artist Village is located in Taipei City’s first officially designated historical community, and was officially founded in 2010 in the hope of allowing art to take root in this settlement, based on the concept of mutually beneficial coexistence, and providing artists with a space to live and make art, in the context of concern for society. Through the Artist-in-Residence Taipei (AIR Taipei) program, both Taipei Artist Village and Treasure Hill Artist Village have actively launched exchange programs with other international artist villages in different cities across the globe. Until the end of 2014, a total of 391 artists from 58 countries have lived and worked at Taipei Artist Village and Treasure Hill, and 145 Taiwanese artists have participated in artist exchange programs all over the world as part of AIR Taipei. Within 10 short years, TAV has taken on a lead role in providing a platform for international artistic and cultural exchange.
The joint operation of the two artist villages creates a greater space for cross-cultural and interdisciplinary dialogue, and provides the city with a diverse platform where the strength and possibilities of art can be developed and spread to other corners of the world.

    - final exhibition

    Murano, Italy
    www.fondazioneberengo.org

The Berengo Foundation was established by Adriano Berengo who recognized the importance of keeping the centuries-old craft of glassmaking in Venice alive. By translating the language of craft to that one of contemporary art, he created a way to enter into the world of glassmaking and preserve the knowledge, skills and traditions of the Murano master glassmakers.
The Berengo Foundation invites artists, both established and emerging, to work in Murano with the master glassmakers and presents the works during Glasstress, a collateral event in the Venice Biennale of Art that has been held in Palazzo Franchetti since 2009. Glasstress showcases this collaboration between contemporary artists and the craftsmen of Murano and in this way helps assure the future of the craft of glass making.
The Foundation has also established an exhibition space in Murano as a second venue for Glasstress and as a permanent home for glass works of contemporary art.
The Foundation also sponsors a residency and internship programs to provide a significant educational opportunity for students and contemporary artists to experiment in the craft of glass.

    International Art Residency
in Milan for 1 month for 1 artist

    www.fonderiabattaglia.com

Founded in 1913 by three partners - Ercole Battaglia (former chief of Necchi foundry), Giulio Pogliani (moulder) and Riccardo Frigerio (chiseler) - “Fonderia Battaglia, Pogliani e Frigerio” has always been one of the main Italian artistic foundries.
Since then, in the course of an agitated century, a number of bronze works have been created and are created every day by craftsmen through the ancient tradition of art casting, that is always tightly bound to the history of the protagonists of the time. In the Foundry some sculptures by Lucio Fontana, Marino Marini, Alik Cavaliere, Giacomo Manzù, Floriano Bodini, Francesco Messina, Alighiero and Boetti, Giuseppe Penone, Giò and Arnaldo Pomodoro among others have been created.
The process of creating bronze sculptures, little known by most people, goes from the realization of the model in wax, that is the exact copy of the sculptor's model, to the bronze casting that will make the finished sculpture.
The space of the foundry is a real workshop of about 1,500 square metres, subdivided into departments according to the stages of processing the material: it is a work place where every day about twenty artisan casters practice a silent and handmade art, that is extremely precious.
For 100 years (and still today!) in Battaglia culture and technique have melted, in the Reinassance warmth of furnaces and in the sounds of a material that eternally comes alive.
