The Berengo Foundation was established by Adriano Berengo who recognized the importance of keeping the centuries-old craft of glassmaking in Venice alive. By translating the language of craft to that one of contemporary art, he created a way to enter into the world of glassmaking and preserve the knowledge, skills and traditions of the Murano master glassmakers.
The Berengo Foundation invites artists, both established and emerging, to work in Murano with the master glassmakers and presents the works during Glasstress, a collateral event in the Venice Biennale of Art that has been held in Palazzo Franchetti since 2009. Glasstress showcases this collaboration between contemporary artists and the craftsmen of Murano and in this way helps assure the future of the craft of glass making.
The Foundation has also established an exhibition space in Murano as a second venue for Glasstress and as a permanent home for glass works of contemporary art.
The Foundation also sponsors a residency and internship programs to provide a significant educational opportunity for students and contemporary artists to experiment in the craft of glass.

Basu Foundation for the Arts ( BFA ) is a not-for-profit, philanthropic organisation established in 1911 and revived in 2014 to encourage and support innovation, experimentation and potential in the arts. Placing the artist at the core, the foundation facilitates a programme of dance, music, sound, performance art, theatre and visual arts exhibitions and residencies both in India and internationally.
From its base in Calcutta, the foundation runs an international residency programme for curators and artists. The aim of the residencies is to provide an innovative forum for contemporary performance and visual practices, one that is totally committed to the artists and their creative endeavor whilst encouraging cross-cultural dialogue and sustained discourse with the local community. Central to the foundation’s philosophy is a commitment to public benefit through the arts and this is realized through community led initiatives such as workshops, talks, screenings and events. The diverse programming involves and draws a range of audiences – from recent arts graduates to practicing artists, emergent writers to established curators and from schools to university students and lecturers.
Founded on a strong desire to advance public appreciation of contemporary art, the foundation works closely with collectors based in India and abroad to establish connections with foundations and institutions for the loans of works for exhibition internationally.
The Gallery Abhishek Basu Contemporary (A.B.C.) exhibits the works of the artist in residence with the mission to create an awareness of the works and the artist by curating exhibitions in a vibrant contemporary art space in Kolkata and across India and connecting these artists with international collectors, galleries, foundations and museums and provide them with the necessary exposure among the right networks.

The Department of Cultural Affairs, Taipei City Government founded Taipei Artist Village in 2001 with the intent of fulfilling the responsibility that the arts have to society, by enacting an artist-in-residence program and revitalizing a derelict space.
Treasure Hill Artist Village is located in Taipei City’s first officially designated historical community, and was officially founded in 2010 in the hope of allowing art to take root in this settlement, based on the concept of mutually beneficial coexistence, and providing artists with a space to live and make art, in the context of concern for society. Through the Artist-in-Residence Taipei (AIR Taipei) program, both Taipei Artist Village and Treasure Hill Artist Village have actively launched exchange programs with other international artist villages in different cities across the globe. Until the end of 2014, a total of 391 artists from 58 countries have lived and worked at Taipei Artist Village and Treasure Hill, and 145 Taiwanese artists have participated in artist exchange programs all over the world as part of AIR Taipei. Within 10 short years, TAV has taken on a lead role in providing a platform for international artistic and cultural exchange.
The joint operation of the two artist villages creates a greater space for cross-cultural and interdisciplinary dialogue, and provides the city with a diverse platform where the strength and possibilities of art can be developed and spread to other corners of the world.

GLO’ART aims at helping young artists to build their career in art,
to become recognized and well-known international artists.

The concept: GLO’ART starts scouting for young art talents throughout the world and to invite them for a stay of 1 to 6 weeks in a unique art centre in Belgium. Within a period of two years, GLO’ART strives to select a hundred potential artists to join it. These are housed during their stay in a luxurious private residence and gain every opportunity to freely show and present their work during this period. GLO’ART offers a variety of accommodation and equipment to support the artists.

For every form of art GLO’ART has separate workshops arranged (painting, sculpture, photography, digital, and free arts). It is intended that during the stay of 1 to 6 weeks, the artists can show their capabilities and skills by making their own art. In that way they deliver a true impression of themselves to the GLO’ART organization. Their presentations and work are discussed and a file of their work laid out. By the end of the second year, ten artists are elected to become associates of GLO’ART. This election is made by an international jury of renowned art experts and is based on the interviews, congestion and artworks made.

These associates will have a contract and thus will be offered the amazing ability to penetrate into the international art world. The GLO’ART marketing and sales team will thereby fully support them. It is for the winners a blazed path to international recognition. The GLO’ART sales department will sell the artworks they produce. In this way, the winners have all the possibilities to focus and develop themselves in their artistry and creativity, and do not need to concern themselves with the financial side of being an artist.

Pistoia Tuscany, Italy

The artistic foundry Salvadori Arte is located in Pistoia, Tuscany, and has been operating since 1964. The company produces works of art in bronze and other metals, with the technique of lost wax, operating in a 700 sqm indoor space and 600 sqm outdoor space. Salvadori Arte is the last heir of the great metallurgical tradition of Pistoia, dating back to the eleventh century, and reaching its highest splendor in the early decades of the twentieth century.
It creates works for major Italian and international sculptors, including Roberto Barni, Luigi Ontani, Claudio Parmiggiani, Mario Merz, Steven Cox, Jorio Vivarelli, Igor Mitoraj, Mark Kostabi, Ilya Kabakov, Leonid Sokov, Grisha Bruskin, Umberto Mastroianni, Pericle Fazzini, Domenico Paladino, Daniel Spoerri, Fabio De Poli, Robert Morris, Bino Bini, Fernando Botero, Franco Fossi, Edoardo Bruno, Mario Ceroli, Pawel Althamer, Alexander Kosoloapov, Gustavo Aceves among others.
Some of its castings are housed in the most famous museums and art collections in the world, as well as in countless squares and gardens of art towns.

THE TECHNIQUE OF LOST WAX FUSION
It entails the coating a support of refractory earth in wax, which will be modeled afterwards; then an additional earth layer is applied on the wax, which is thus trapped inside the two masses.
By strongly heating the casing thus obtained, the wax melts and overflows from specific vents.
In the thin gap left by the wax, usually a few millimeters thick, the liquid alloy is poured, which by cooling and hardening, produces the fusion. When the fusion is complete, the sculpture is liberated from the different external castings and its surfaces are refined and polished.
Finally, through various oxidations and heat treatments, the desired patina is given to bronze.
The Zeus in Athens, the horses of Saint Mark’s in Venice, the Marco Aurelio in Rome’s Campidoglio, and the great sculptures of the Renaissance, were made using this very technique, which, over time, has hardly been amended.

From the birth of the laboratory, Fiorenzo Fallani’s direction for artistic production was rediscovered through the use of screen printing.
With the subsequent experience of Gruppofallani, the prospectives were amplified and confirmed through a multi-purpose usage in the area of museum installations and display exposition.
Today FallaniVenezia intends to follow on the work started by Fiorenzo Fallani, continuing to seek out collaborations with artists that are approaching the screen print medium and opening up the laboratory through training courses and hands-on experience with printing.
The context is the same that hosted the artists that have animated the laboratory through the years, thus creating a continuity of the past into the present and into the future, with the intention of building important relationships and collaborations with those whose life is the creation, diffusion and commercialization of art.

San Francisco Art Residency is a unique alliance of three partners – Tech Shop, The Growlery, and the Pacific Felt Factory Arts Complex. San Francisco is known for its entrepreneurial, free-spirited atmosphere and creative individuals of all stripes thrive on the city’s pioneering spirit. It’s an environment where people take pride in inventing new approaches. That quintessentially San Franciscan renegade spirit is embodied by ventures such as the three residency partners. Each institution is a creative solution to the problem of equal access & opportunity as it relates to the arts in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Tech Shop is a member-based fabrication workshop that allows people of all skill levels access to industrial tools and equipment to build their own projects, at a fraction of what would otherwise be prohibitive costs. Typical equipment includes manual & CNC-operated metal & woodworking machines, welding equipment, design software, 3-D printers, laser-cutters, industrial sewing machines, and much more.

The Growlery is a privately run artist residency centrally located in San Francisco’s historic Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. It provides artists with rent-free accommodations in a city where affordability is a real hurdle for professional artists. Artists live & work in a beautifully restored Victorian-era home, in a communal environment alongside a small, diverse group of peers.

Pacific Felt Factory (PFF) is a non-profit art space located in San Francisco’s Mission District. In proud contrast to current market trends, PFF serves the Bay Area arts community by providing artists with below-market-rate studios and an exhibition/event space. PFF hosts professional development workshops, creative events, pop-up exhibits and screenings, and fosters opportunity for those underserved in the arts.

During the residency month, the selected artist will be accommodated at The Growlery and receive access to the machines & equipment at the TechShop, including training related to the safe use of the equipment. TechShop is primarily where the artist will produce the bulk of their work. The residency will culminate in an exhibition and artist talk focused on the work created during the program, hosted at the Pacific Felt Factory.
