ART. 1 - GOALS
The Italian Cultural Association MoCA (Modern Contemporary Art), in collaboration with Arte Laguna Studio, organizes the 10th Edition of the International Arte Laguna Prize, aimed at promoting and enhancing Contemporary Art.
The Prize obtained a medal from the President of the Italian Republic, with the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, Veneto Region, Cà Foscari University of Venice and the European Institute of Design among others.
The contest features the awarding of 6 cash prizes of € 7.000 each one, the organization of a major collective exhibition in Venice, 4 exhibitions in international Art Galleries, 2 collaborations with Companies, 7 Art Residencies, 3 participations in International Festivals and the publication of the catalogue.
The free-themed Prize is divided into seven sections: painting, sculpture and installation, photographic art, video art and performance, virtual and digital art, environmental and land art.

 
ART. 2 - TECHNIQUES
The Prize is open to all Artists, with no restrictions of age, sex, nationality or any other qualifications. Each artist can participate with one or more artworks, also in more than one section. It is not necessary to submit unpublished works. Below the technical details:
Painting
works realized with technical and stylistic freedom (oil, tempera, acrylic, ink, vinyl, watercolor, graphite, pencil, collage, etc.) on any support (canvas, paper, wood, plastics, iron, etc.). The maximum size allowed for each work is 175 cm per side.
Sculpture and Installation
works created with any organic or inorganic material, they can include sounds, lights, videos, mechanical or electrical movements. The maximum size allowed for each work is: base 4 meters, depth 4 meters, height 8 meters and there are no weight limits.
Photographic Art
photographs on analog or digital support, photos including digital elaborations. Works entirely created using the computer can be submitted in the Digital Art section. The maximum size allowed for each work is 175 cm per side. Artists can submit series of photographs. If the entire series falls within the overall 175 cm, the series can be submitted as a single work and it will have to be submitted as one single file. If the total size of the series exceeds 175 cm in total, each part that makes up the series must be submitted as a single work.
Video Art
videos, films and works realized with any animation techniques on any digital and analog support. Works must last 15 minutes at most, opening titles and closing credits included.
Performance
every artist or group of artists can participate with one or more performances, using any technique, expressive form and with the use of any support materials provided by the artist. Finalist artists will perform live during the opening night, in a version which does not exceed 10 minutes.
Virtual and Digital Art
works entirely created using the computer or digital applications and devices: images, videos, installations, performances in which the use of digital media plays a key role in the creative process and content; net art, software, smartphone or tablet applications, interactive devices, videogames, augmented reality projects, rapid prototyping, etc.
Environmental / Land Art - conceived and created with Thetis SpA
Projects of environmental and land art works in which the artistic intervention interacts with the environment it has been created for. There are no restrictions in terms of the choice of the specific environment, but there will be a particular consideration for the projects regarding the Venice Lagoon. The projects will have to value nature and its features and more in general the environment or the landscape in which they are placed.

 
ART. 3 - JURY
The selection of the submitted artworks will be made by an international jury composed of 11 members subdivided into the six contest categories.

The total amount of the Prize is thus divided:

ARTIST IN GALLERY PRIZES
Realization of personal exhibitions in international Art Galleries including: set up, coverage of transportation expenses (max. € 500) and a digital catalogue dedicated to the selected artist.

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PRIZES
Reserved to artists who submit at least 2 works to the same section

The Swatch Art Peace Hotel, Shanghai China
Art Residency from 3 to 6 months for 1 artist + final exhibition
The residency includes: journey, accommodation and breakfast, logistic support, workshops, presence in all activities related to The Swatch Art Peace Hotel (exhibitions, catalogues, website), participation of the “trace” in international exhibitions during and after the residency, involvement in the local artistic scene.

Taipei Artist Village, Taipei Taiwan
Art Residency of 1 month for 1 artist + final exhibition
The residency includes: accommodation, studio, logistic support, assistance, participation in public activities (open studio, gallery talks, workshops, public events), final exhibition at Treasure Hill Artist Village with public vernissage.

Berengo Foundation, Murano Italy
Art Residency for 1 month for 1 artist + realization of the glass project + open day
The residency includes: accommodation, assistance, realization of the project with the master glassmakers.
The work created will also be signed by the master glassmaker and it will remain the artist's property; one copy will enter the Foundation's collection.

Espronceda, Barcelona Spain
Art Residency from 3 to 6 weeks for 1 artist + final exhibition
The residency includes: accommodation, curatorial assistance, studio, support for materials, final exhibition or another public activity, involvement in the activities realized by the art centre.

Basu Foundation for the Arts, Kolkata India
Art Residency for 1 month for 1 artist + final exhibition
The residency includes: board and lodging, studio, curatorial assistance on site, introduction into the Indian cultural scene, a grant for the creation of the works.
One of the works created will remain the property of Basu Foundation for the Arts.

Artistic Serigraphy Fallani, Venice Italy
Art Residency for 10 days for 4 artists + realization of the silk screen-printing work + open day
The residency includes: accommodation, assistance, realization of a silk screen-printing work in 50 copies (10 of them for the artist, 40 of them for the Partner).

Artistic Foundry Battaglia, Milan Italy
Art Residency for 1 month for 1 artist + realization of the work in bronze + open day
The residency includes: accommodation, realization of the project in the historic foundry with assistance during all the execution stages, final exhibition, grant of 300 euro.
The artwork will remain the artist’s property; one copy will remain at the Foundry.


BUSINESS FOR ART PRIZES
Riva 1920, Cantù Italy
Presentation of an art project for the creation of an object or work using briccola wood. The selected project will be realized at the company.
The prize includes a 10-day stay with accommodation, a grant of 300 euro and the creation of the work that will remain the artist’s property and will be exhibited at Salone del Mobile in Milan in April 2016.

Deglupta, Venice Italy
Prize of 5,000 Euro for the winning project
Presentation of a portfolio of proposals for the realization of one or more works on leather or fabric which will be used for the handmade creation of bags and accessories, unique pieces which will be part of the Deglupta collection Spring - Summer 2017.
The prize includes: materials supply on which the artist will paint (leather or fabric), paints, delivery and pick up of the materials, realization of the products.


FESTIVALS AND EXHIBITIONS PRIZES
Art Nova 100, Beijing China
Exhibition of the 10 finalist videos in Summer 2016
The collective exhibition will be organized as one of the activities carried out by the platform for the promotion of international artists in China.

Art Stays Festival, Ptuj Slovenia
Participation in the Festival and 7-day stay for 1 artist
The participation includes: accommodation, board, studio, basic materials to create the works, curatorial assistance. One of the artworks will enter the Festival's collection.

Open International Exhibition of Sculptures and Installations, Venice Italy
Participation in the exhibition for 1 month for 1 artist
The participation includes: curatorial assistance and insertion into the related catalogue.


FINALISTS EXHIBITIONS
The 120 finalist artists selected by the international jury will participate in the major collective exhibition which will take place in Venice in March 2016.
The prestigious venue of the Arsenale will host the exhibition of 30 works of painting, 30 sculptures and installations, 30 works of photographic art, 10 videos, 10 land art projects, 5 performances which will be performed live during the exhibition's opening ceremony. The historical venue of the Telecom Italia Future Centre, where new technologies are developed, will host the 5 works of virtual and digital art.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a bilingual catalogue published by ODE (On Demand Editions).

 
ART. 5 - ENTRY FEE
For the partial support of the organization expenses, the entry fee is 50.00 Euro for 1 work and 90.00 Euro for 2 works submitted to the same section; for every additional work (submitted to the same section) the fee is 45.00 Euro, to be paid as specified in ART. 6. For under-25 artists the entry fee is 45.00 Euro for 1 work and 80.00 Euro for 2 works submitted to the same section; for every additional work (submitted to the same section) the fee is 40.00 Euro each, with the obligation to send a copy of the artist’s ID card to This email address is being protected from spambots. Artists must keep a copy of the payment. The entry fee is not refundable.

 
ART. 6 - CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
Artists can apply by: 18th November 2015. New deadline to apply: December 12th 2015 using one of these modalities:

- the application form that can be downloaded at the web page http://www.artelagunaprize.com/module.pdf
- a short biographical statement
- a picture of each work (minimum size: 15x20 cm - maximum size: 20x30cm) including artist’s name and surname, country, title, size, technique, year on the back side of the picture
- a copy of the payment of the entry fee.
The documentation (photographs included) will not be returned to the artist.
For the selection's process, the videos sent on DVD will be uploaded in a private password-protected Youtube account.

ART. 7 - SELECTION PROCESS
The Awarding Juries will select 200 works.
The selected artists will be asked to send an e-mail with a focused dossier with max. 10 works to participate in the final selection of the 120 works, which will be exhibited in the prestigious venue of the Arsenale of Venice. The Virtual Art section will be on view at the Telecom Italia Future Centre of Venice.
The selections results will be published on the website www.artelagunaprize.com
The proclamation of the overall winners and of all the prizes will take place during the inauguration of the finalist artists exhibition. The set-up and the organization of the 2 exhibitions mentioned above will be done by the Italian Cultural association MoCA. The transportation costs (round trip) and the artworks insurance costs will be at the expense of each artist.

 
ART. 8 - RESPONSIBILITIES
Cultural Association MoCA and Arte Laguna, while guaranteeing the greatest care and custody of the works, will not be liable for any thefts, fires or any damages to the artworks or people that could occur during all the stages of the event. Any insurance request is the responsibility of the Artists.
It is recommended to subscribe to the newsletter and to regularly check the website www.artelagunaprize.com in order to be informed about all the updates and about any possible changes of these "Terms and Conditions".

 
ART. 9 - AGREEMENT
The decisions of the Awarding Juries are irrevocable and unquestionable. The awarded artists have the right to renounce the prizes, but without asking Arte Laguna any kind of compensation, in that case the prize will be re-assigned according to the ranking made by the jury. Each artist gives to the Cultural Association MoCA and Arte Laguna, without any compensation, the rights of reproduction, exhibition, publication, translation and communication to the public, in any manner and without exception, for their works and for the texts participating in the selection. The Cultural Association MoCA and Arte Laguna, while fully respecting the moral rights of the author, will exercise these rights for all institutional activities of communication concerning the competition. Each candidate gives to the Cultural Association MoCA and Arte Laguna, as well as to their direct representatives, the authorization to the treatment of personal data according to the Law 675/96 (“Privacy law”) and to its following changes in the Legislative Decree 196/2003 (Privacy Code) also for data entry into data banks managed by the subjects mentioned above. The participation in the Prize implies the knowledge and the complete acceptance of these Regulations and of the charter of Cultural Association MoCA.
